The Iridium satellite constellation is a large group of satellites providing voice and data coverage to satellite phones, pagers and integrated transceivers over Earth’s entire surface. Launched August 21, 1997, from Vandenberg AFB, in launch vehicle Delta 2 7920. Contractor: Motorola Satellite Communications Group.
